About Our Gatherings
At Leawood, we unite at our worship gatherings with the expectation of being overwhelmed by the glory of God and authentically and passionately praising Him. Here are a few things to expect:
PRAYER– All throughout the worship gathering, our church prays to the Lord with an awestruck spirit of celebration, reverence, and conviction. Church members guide these prayer times with clear instruction for united prayer. (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18)
ARTS – We give glory to God through a variety of expressions, including music, painting, drama, and other areas. We encourage the church to wholeheartedly participate in this interactive gathering and gain a fresh revelation of God. (John 4:24, Revelation 21:26)
OFFERING – We give financially as a tangible expression of worship to our God, surrendering to Him what is already His. We unite under the work that God is doing in and through our church and encourage you to generously give in support of the difference God desires us to make together in this local community and beyond! (2 Corinthians 9:7, Mark 12:41-44, Matthew 6:19-21)
TEACHING/SERMON– Our pastor presents a specific passage of the Bible verse-by-verse and teaches parallels and insights that increase our understanding of God and the application of the Bible in our life. (2 Timothy 3:16-17)
EXTENDED RESPONSE – After the sermon, the church is invited to immediately respond to God, either through prayer at the altar, seeking counsel, making a decision to choose salvation, repenting of sin, or passionately singing from your seat. (Mark 16:15, 1 Peter 2:9)
COMMUNION – Once a month, we reflect on Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross through communion. All Christ-followers take bread and juice to remember how Jesus’ body was broken and spilled for all people. (John 6:53-58)
Childcare is provided for infants-5th graders during the worship gatherings. We strongly encourage you to involve your children in our wonderful Children’s Ministry! If you have any questions, please contact us at 901-324-7169.
Our Heart for Worship
Worship is the heartbeat of our church and is central to the mission of God. Jesus says that He desires those who will worship Him in spirit and in truth (John 4:24). You may be wondering – what is worship? The Scriptures teach that worship is the only sensible response to the revelation of God. When we are overwhelmed with the presence of God, we can’t help but worship God by living lives of submission to Him and loving the world as Christ has loved us.
When we gather together to worship God as a community, we give God glory for what He has done, is doing, and is going to do. This beautiful reminder transforms our attitudes and further shapes us into living like Christ. We pray that all who participate in our gatherings would leave transformed by the sovereign God and encouraged to live completely for Him!
Serving in the Arts
We have a wide variety of ways to serve in the worship arts ministry, including choirs, band, painting, puppets, drama, visual arts, sound, and creative movement.
